What is the
Convention? |
 |
Convention is the supreme legislative body of
the Fraternity and convenes every two years. It is composed of one delegate from each
undergraduate chapter, active alumni association and International Officers. The
Convention has the power to alter or amend the Constitution, Codes, and to enact, subject
to the Laws, any legislation to promote the general welfare of the Fraternity. |

Who should attend Convention? |
 |
All Pi Kappa Alpha members and their families
are welcome to attend Convention. However, only one Certified Delegate from each
undergraduate chapter and active alumni association is eligible to vote. This is the one
time each has the opportunity to affect the direction of the Fraternity, therefore, every
undergraduate chapter should be sure to send one voting delegate. |

What if my Chapter does not send a representative to the Convention? |
 |
As outlined in Code IV, Section 7, any chapter that does not send a representative to the Convention will be subject to a fine of $1,000. |

Why should I attend Convention? |
 |
There are many important reasons: To elect the
Supreme Council, to vote on Fraternity Policy, to represent your chapter before the entire
Fraternity, to learn more about Pi Kappa Alpha and to help determine the future of Pi
Kappa Alpha. |

What else will happen
at Convention? |
 |
Several social events and
awards presentations are scheduled in conjunction with the business meetings of
Convention. These events include the Pi Kappa Alpha Volunteer and Alumni Association
Awards, the Convention Banquet, and the Chapter Awards presentation. |

How much will it cost to send our
undergraduate delegate to Convention? |
 |
Each undergraduate chapter is responsible for
the cost of registration, accommodations, transportation and meals that are not already
included in the Convention registration package. Remember, your delegate shall be eligible
for a travel allowance based on 100% attendance at legislative sessions. The allowance is
$.10/mile for every mile round-trip from the Chapter city to the Convention site. |

What is the dress for
the business sessions and other social functions? |
 |
The dress code for the
business sessions is business casual. The dress code for the Banquet is formal business
attire (suit and tie). |

Where will all the meetings be held? |
 |
The Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. |
 |
Has a special
sleeping room rate been negotiated? |
 |
Yes – $135 plus tax per
night, and up to four people can stay in one room at this rate. |

 |
.10 per mile based on round-trip. |

When will the
delegates receive their mileage reimbursement? |
 |
After the Convention, upon confirmation of a delegate's attendance (provided the Chapter has a zero balance). |

Do Delegate Alumni

What happens if I do
not fill out the form? |
 |
You cannot vote and UNDERGRADUATE DELEGATES do not qualify for a mileage allowance. |

How should I best
prepare for the Convention? |
 |
You are encouraged to review the Fraternity’s Constitution & Codes as well as other policies so that you are familiar and prepared to engage in discussions that may take place during the legislative sessions of the Convention. If you are a delegate, you are also encouraged to be familiar with the current edition of Roberts Rules of Order, as it is the parliamentary procedure which will guide legislative sessions. |
